Welcome!

Hello everybody!

Welcome to Kitchen Bread Crumbs, my lifestyle blog, documenting my cooking/eating journey (successes and disasters) that takes place in my kitchen.

Let's get introductions underway, shall we?

My name is Melissa, and I'm a third year student attending the University of Alberta, in Canada. I'm currently studying Chinese language and Culture as my major, and Political Sciences as my minor.

Aside from studies, my hobbies include, of course, cooking, but also playing guitar, listening to music, watching Netflix and Korean dramas. :) I'm a pretty easy going person and well known amongst my friends as a person that can eat quite a lot, despite my petite frame.

Why the name Kitchen Bread Crumbs? Two reasons:
The first is simple. I love to bake bread. From scratch, and no bread machine. Honestly, how can you feel proud of baking bread yourself when all you did was throw ingredients in a machine and let it do all the work? I believe that putting that much more effort into making any kind of food will taste much better, as well as give you a better sense of accomplishment.

The second reason is that seeing crumbs on the counter indicates that someone was there. Whether it was cooking, baking or eating in the kitchen, someone left an imprint of their presence in the kitchen, and that's my goal. To hone in my cooking skills so that I can leave an impression in the kitchen. (lame, I know, but that's how my brain works :P)

A lot of my kitchen experiences will be directed towards university student population, who, like me, do not have all those fancy shmancy tools and equipment. So, with that being said, you can guess that I'll be doing a lot of improvisation.

Well, that's it for now! I hope to see you all soon! :)
